“A Tension Deficit”
GRYSKLL's Debut EP, Episode 1 in The GRYSKLL Saga
"A Tension Deficit" is coming to vinyl.
Five years after its original release, GRYSKLL's debut EP is heading to physical collectors for the first time, paired with "The Interlude" on one record. The official announcement is coming soon.
GRYSKLL started in 2021 as a group of artists releasing singles and hosting podcast episodes, building a catalog one drop at a time. "A Tension Deficit" was the first time that catalog became something bigger. Some of those early singles got pulled together with new cuts to form GRYSKLL's debut EP.
Most of GRYSKLL's members are over 40, and that history is all over this project. "A Tension Deficit" carries self healing, evolution, and empowerment, told through Hip Hop instead of talked about around it. GRYSKLL calls itself the Expendables of Hip Hop, a crew built for artists the industry passed over.
The EP features Zo the Instrument Being, deMond dUshawn, and Qthulu, with a DJ T-Bear 183 feature on "Bleeding Out." Produced by Dragon's Pitchfork, Qthulu, and Zo the Instrument Being. Cover art by Yani, the Ghost of GRYSKLL, who also added voiceover and arranged the tracklist so the songs moved as one story instead of a collection of loose drops.
For the vinyl pressing, Qthulu remastered "A Tension Deficit" in full, with two verses re-recorded and a handful of other changes throughout. Once the vinyl drops, we're asking listeners to spot what's different between this version and the original.
